IMPROVE OUR COMMUNITY
Old Ruts Rugby is a sporting section of the Old Rutlishians Association which is now a registered charity. Rugby is the biggest section of the club and regularly looks at how it can engage with the community through events, projects and initiatives to bring people together, help others and grow our membership.
We’re lead by our volunteers and always try to help and support members who have ideas and passion for benefitting the wider community.
One of our longest running initiatives is Old Ruts Kenya. This was started by members who have now moved to Kenya to promote Rugby in the slums around Nairobi. In 2019 we’ve also started an initiative to train Mental Health First Aiders so they are able to consider the well-being of parents and children on and off the pitch.

Hi, I’m Simon and I lead the initiative to promote Old Ruts Kenya. We try and hold a couple of fundraisers every year and send Christmas presents to the children. Please get in touch or take a look at our project.
Hi, I’m Stu and U12s (Year 7) is my age age group. As boys transition from primary to secondary school it can be a daunting time. I’m leading the Year 7 initiative to get more boys into Rugby. Have a look at our project to find out more.
Hello, I’m Claire and I’m leading the Mental Health First Aid project at Old Ruts. We aim to promote wellbeing on and off the pitch and have made a great start this year with over 20 trained Mental Health First Aiders. If you’d like to know more or get involved have a look at our page
