FROM U6s TO U15s

GIRLS

Hi, I’m Rob and I’m the Head of Girls Rugby at Old Ruts. I first fell in love with rugby from a young age while growing up in the Waikato area of New Zealand and this is also where I began coaching rugby with a local High School.

Participation in rugby by women and girls in England is steadily growing and we are proud to be playing our part in providing one avenue into playing the game.

Regardless of age, the core principles and values of ‘Kids First’ rugby are promoted as we seek to create a place where rugby is enjoyed, friendships developed, and memories made.

All of our coaches are volunteers and we’re always looking for more. You can also get involved by helping with admin or becoming a volunteer first aider. We had a great time last season, but the old adage that many hands make light work is still very true.

How we’re structured

Age Grade Rugby allows Girls to ‘Play Up’ and ‘Play Down’ age groups so they can mix ages as teams are increasing in numbers. It also allows children to play within their ability and not be limited by age only. We’re lucky at Old Ruts that we’re growing but to ensure we always have plenty of players we have grouped some age groups together. Even though the Girls section is separate from the Juniors (boys only) and Kids First (mixed boys & girls) sections we follow the Quilter Kids First ethos throughout.
