Hi, I’m Sam, Senior Men’s Chair here at Old Ruts. Old Ruts is a thriving place to enjoy your adult rugby years and I am lucky to be a part of it.
The Old Ruts ethos from the ground up is all about player development and having fun and this has been a major contributory factor in ensuring that many of our players move into playing senior rugby after enjoying their junior rugby years. As a result we have become a very youthful senior rugby group led by many older players both on and off the pitch!

We have a great social set up and regularly field four teams including a rapidly expanding Vets side! We are a fantastic senior section who benefit from the strength of our junior teams coming through. We also attract excellent players from the local area thanks to our fantastic Clubhouse and the culture of inclusive, community rugby that puts our players first and from the fast and free style of rugby we play!
Our 2nds and 3rds teams play in the Surrey merit leagues and play hard on the day but take victory or defeat in the same way, as our 1st team! We want the 2nds and 3rds to be the place that our crop of Juniors first start playing with the grown-ups and where grown-ups who want to play good, social rugby – without the commitment needed at 1st team standard – can find a home.
